Was invited out with friends for dinner tonight. The couple who took us here knew we liked Italian food & said they wanted us to try it. My wife had the special Veal Sorrento which was superb. I had Chicken Parmigiana with a side of Penne. The restaurant was off the beaten path & you wouldn't know it was there unless someone told you. It was behind TGIF in Murrles Inlet . It was a small family restaurant. The food was excellent & very reasonable priced. Now we have 3 favorite Italian restaurants. The chef & his wife run the place. The food & service couldn't be better. Each dish was personally cooked to order.

Great Food, Great service, and the new pizza that there serving was one of a kind!! Not the type that flops over when you eat it or too greasy it was just right. Also I also had the Chicken Francese and it was so delicious not to over powering from the lemon and not to oily it was the best I've ever had. I would defiantly go back for lunch or dinner!!

Excellent food and service. All the food is cooked fresh and to order which is worth the wait. This is not a fast food restaurant. The dishes are all authentic Sicilian and this is understandably so, since the owner / chef is Sicilian. What else can I say, except treat yourself and loved ones to some great italian dishes at reasonable prices. Enjoy. Peter D

Family run... and I mean family... husband in the kitchen, wife out serving. Been at this location some 8-years. They serve a simple and robust Italian menu. Cloth table cloth and napkins, demure surroundings with oil paintings, decent house wine by the glass $5/glass for Cabs and $7/glass for the Chianti. Bread is piping hot out of the oven, with dipping sauce (Olive oil and herbs) at the table. Dishes are plentiful with all the carbs you will want to satisfy even the hungriest of men. House salad is served with their own home-made Italian dressing. Most of the signature dishes come with a salad and side of pasta your way all for under $16. Music is by the Rat-Pack as is the decor in the bathroom (Frank, Sammy, Dean, Peter and Joey all in B&W laughing and holding cigarettes back in the day). A nice place for an intimate dinner and also a place to hold a business meeting without distractions or too much background noise. Not bad for family and kids too. SaleebScore: Food 8/10, Service 9/10, Overall 8.5/10

RELENTLESS EXCELLENCE. I'm a local and I come here at least once a month. I have been to Italy several times and I tell you, the chef/owner is the best Italian chef this side of the Atlantic. I've tried about seven different items on the menu (as well as several off-menu items) and have been floored each and every time. I've recommended the restaurant to several friends and everyone I've sent has come back pleasantly surprised. The amount of care and detail that goes into every dish is astonishing.

We were visiting on vacation and selected this restaurant based on the previous reviews. We were disappointed. While the server was very attentive, the food was slow to arrive and not at all appetizing. So bad that we'll never go back and would tell others the same. My 12 year old was disappointed that there was no kids menu and no pizza choices. Equally disappointing, the iced tea was fountain, not brewed. Surprising that something so simple to prepare is not. Shows lack of attention to detail which was characteristic of the whole meal.

Great experience. We read the reviews from the locals before we went to try it out. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! Fresh, fresh, fresh!! We will be back again!

We finally got to try this local place out and I was a bit disappointed with the experience. The place was just about empty as we arrived for an early 5 PM or so Friday dinner as there was only one other table occupied with customers. Our waitress took care of us quickly when we arrived but we had to wait a bit for each course to be served which didn't make sense due to the lack of other customers. We also were treated to the sounds of loud whacking noises coming from the kitchen which we assumed was the chef making thin veal cutlets. The house salad was very fresh but plain, mostly lettuce and a few tomatoes. My main course veal portion was OK but the portion was small and the pasta was just meh. We ordered cappuccinos for after dinner but they took a long time to arrive and weren't served very hot. For the prices they charged us for dinner you have much better options for Italian food in the South Strand area. Don't think we will be going back.

This is a small "mom & pop" Italian restaurant that is worth a try if you are a local or just visiting the Murrells Inlet/Garden City beach area. The owners (Alfonso is originally from Sicily) are friendly and treat you like family. The food is very fresh-tasting and not just your typical Italian food that can be found in other local Italian joints in the area. The best veal in town can be found here. The house special, the "veal sorrentino" is a veal cutlet with eggplant, prosciutto, mushrooms, and cheese, cooked with a marsala wine sauce and includes your choice of pasta. Absolutely delicious! The salad that comes with your meal is simple, but very tasty. The lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms all taste fresh! The dressing is a simple Italian style oil/vinegar/lemon juice/garlic mix that is not overpowering. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars out of 5 is that since they are a "mom & pop" restaurant, they often do not have enough servers when it gets busy. The owner's wife Brenda is usually the only waitress to be found, but she does really well on her own. Also, they will even sometimes run out of certain menu items. But do not let that deter you from trying La Villa, because your patience will be rewarded! This has become my wife and I's personal favorite local restaurant to go to. Once you give it a chance, it will be a favorite of yours as well!

Great Food! Great People! Great Service! I was visiting SC on vacation, came in with some friends who said it was amazing! We ordered a little bit of everything off the menu and I was so impressed! I consider myself to be very critical of Italian food and I can't say anything bad. The owner makes everything from scratch by himself in the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and go here as soon as possible! He recently added pizza to the menu and it was exactly what this ex-New Yorker needed to feel at home again! Menu Items tried: 5 stars for all! Mozzarella Sticks Eggplant Rolatini Mozzarella Caprese Pasta Fagoli- made fresh every time it's ordered House Salad Tortellini Marinara Chicken Parmagiana- you can hear him pounding the chicken in the kitchen Chicken Francese

Wonderful food! This is the place for authentic Italian home cooking! You won't find "fast food" Italian here, just the freshest most perfectly prepared meals in a small lovely local "secret" kind of place! This is where food, wine and the ones you are with make the evening special every time you visit! My perfect meal is the simply lovely house salad, Chicken Special (not on the menu) and.a glass of Chianti! This dish is a perfectly cooked chicken breast with slices of ham, tomatoes, cheese and light tomato reduction, all you could ask for! The attentive service by Bernadette is like eating at a friends home time and time again. This is the place for you when a memorable Italian meal is desired! Must go if your in the grand strand or a local The four of us got there at 7:30 on a Tuesday night. We were the only people in the restaurant which is not a reflection of the quality of La Villa. For starters, the oil with the bread is second to none. Bernadette, was a very attentive and kind waitress. The food is reasonably priced, especially given that it comes with salad and pasta. The dressing is simple but delicious and the salad was fresh. The pasta on the side had a nice sauce and I had no complaints. Our entrees were delicious. No dessert for us, since the food filled us up. Overall, La Villa is a nice little Italian restaurant that is reasonably priced and very tasty. Definatly stop by for a nice relaxing meal.

We have eaten at this restaurant two times this past month. Oct 2009 I met the owners father who walks everyday on the Beach in Garden City. He told me his Daughter and Son in Law have a little Italian place nearby. My husband & I LOVE really good food (we also love to cook) so we gave em a try. (FYI. We have been fortunate to have eaten at many Italian Restaurants from Coast to Coast. NY- Boston- L.A.- San Francisco and a lot in between!) Oh My Gosh! OUTSTANDING!!! I could eat here every day! The Best Italian Food in all of SC! Maybe the USA. La Villa is a hidden Gem. They are located in a strip plaza across from the (old) "Hooters." Please check them out! The owners are Italian and hands on! They cook and serve you! Right there you know its gonna be good- Bada Bing! Don't go if you are in a rush. The ambiance is just okay-Wine list fair...but we are here for the food right! Their house salad dressing is divine. Hot Bread! Ask for the Olive Oil dipping sauce...love the garlic! Every entree was fabulous, we have had chicken and veal dishes. Real VEAL, hand pounded. Their sauces are Outstanding! Also the appetizers were very nice and good portions. They have early bird specials till 6pm, the portions will be smaller. You can't go wrong with whatever you order! Ciao Baby! Edit - Delete

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
